Signing a new contract with the municipality Markopoulo

Our companies ROIKOS SA and INTEGER SA following the competition launched by the Municipality of Markopoulo in Mesogeia area, were jointly awarded the contract: “Study for the extension of the Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Municipality of Markopoulo for a population equivalent of 80.000.” The contract was signed on 08.08.2013, the project budget is 431.034,00 € plus VAT, and its completion deadline is 12 months.

The contract is co-funded by the Regional Operational Programme “Attica Region 2007-2013” and is the 1^st sub-task of the Action “Wastewater and Sewage Treatment Plant upgrading in the Municipality of Markopoulo” with a total budget of 7.057.186,64 €.

The project aim is to prepare the design and study for the expansion works of the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) located in Markopoulo area, in order to increase its capacity to serve a population equivalent of 80.000 (the existing one was designed for a p.e. of 40.000), as well as serve a wider area including the settlements of Markopoulo, Porto Rafti in the Municipality of Markopoulo and Kalivia, Kouvaras in the Municipality of Saronicos.

The project will be conducted in two stages: Preliminary Study and Final Study including preparation of the tender documents in order to open the call for bids (best price offer).

It should be noted that, that the bidding of infrastructural works study in Porto Rafti for sewage and connection to Markopoulo’s WWTP, will lead to completion of the Wastewater Management Plan in a significant area of the East Attica region (Mesogeia), following the recent disengagement and commissioning of the study for the construction of pipelines, wastewater disposal infrastructure and the WWTP in the Athens airport area, which will serve the Municipalities of Koropi and Peania.

It should also be stressed that our companies, in the context of the contract agreement with the Municipality of Markopoulo “Supplement studies and consulting services for hydraulic infrastructure works in the Municipality of Markopoulo”, is successfully cooperating since 2003 with the Municipality in the provision of consulting services for bringing forward and implementing wastewater management projects in the Municipality. The aforementioned consulting services include: detailed documentation, monitoring and evaluation of existing studies and drainage works, conduct Feasibility study for integrated wastewater management plans in the Municipalities of Markopoulo, Kalivia and Kouvara, update previous studies and prepare tender documents, counseling on various technical, financial and legal issues (technical and financial monitoring of subcontractors, measurement control, environmental assessments, certifications, legal advice, resolution of disputes among contractors and the Municipality, advice on tender procedures, presentations in meetings and conferences, participation in City Council meetings and meetings with stakeholders, support for project co-funding by EC etc).

Moreover, our companies assume a pivotal role in actively promoting public participation in all processes, in order to reach consensus and to inform citizens and interested parties on the importance of completing wastewater treatment projects in the Municipality of Markopoulo (combined with similar projects in the neighbouring Municipalities of Koropi and Peania for promoting joint wastewater disposal works).
