Signing of a new contract with the Region of Thessaly
Our company ROIKOS SA, following a tender launched from the Region of Thessaly, has been commissioned with the implementation of the project: «Technical consultancy for the project: water supply in the east part of the Prefecture of Karditsa from Smokovo Lake».
The contract has been signed at the premises of the Prefecture of Karditsa on 26/3/2015, with a fee of 288.895,00 € excluding VAT and a duration of 35 months.
The work commissioned aim to provide technical consultancy and support to the Regional Authority in the implementation of the water supply system for the settlements lying in the east part of the Karditsa Prefecture. The water will be provided from the existing artificial lake created by the construction of the Smokovo’s Dam.
The project has been approved for funding through the National Strategic Reference Framework 2007-2013 (Operational Programme for Environment and Sustainable Development) and the total budget amounts to 42.713.225 €, including, apart from the technical consultancy contract, the following sub-projects:
- WORKS FOR WATER STORAGE & TREATMENT, with a budget of 12.177.000,00 €, which includes the “Head” works and the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) that will be tendered out under the system «design-build». The “Head” works include the construction of a water reservoir with a total capacity of 80.000 m3 and the supplementary works necessary for its operation (water intake and evacuation system, overflow, divergence, road construction for accessing the crest of the reservoir). The WTP has been designed to serve P.E. 45.000 people for the 1st Implementation Period of 20 years and 55.000 people for the 2nd Implementation Period of 40 years. The water treatment method involves refinement and chlorine disinfection, as well as advanced and intensive treatment methods with ozon and activated carbon.
- WORKS FOR WATER TRANSFER & DISTRIBUTION, with a budget of 29.175.600,00 €, which includes the construction of the water supply network that it has been already published as an open best price bid. The water transfer and supply network includes pipes of 190 km in length, of diameter DN 90-450, HDPE 10 to 20 atm and made of ductile iron (D.I.).
The technical consultancy services include support in the tendering procedure for awarding the Contractor who will undertake the construction of the Water Treatment Plant, as well as in the construction supervision throughout the implementation of the two sub-projects and in WTP’s start-up and operation.
It is highlighted that the entire project has been prepared from the beginning by our company ROIKOS SA (master plan and conceptual design, EIA, detail design and tender documents), which had had an active role and a determinant contribution in all processes preceding the project’s integration into the Operational Programme for Environment and Sustainable Development 2007-2013.
