New contract signed with the Municipality of Markopoulo – Mesogaia

Our company, following an open tender launched by the Municipality of Markopoulo – Mesogaia, has been commissioned with the project: TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR THE PROJECT: SEWERAGE NETWORKS IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MARKOPOULO AND UPGRADING OF THE WWTP FOR TOTAL CAPACITY 40,000 P.E.. The contract was signed on 29.12.2016, with a fee of 298.640,00 € (excl. VAT) and overall duration of sixty six (66) months.

The current contract and the new projects are construction are included in, and co-funded by, the Cohesion Fund and national resources through the Operational Programme “Transport infrastructure, Environment and Sustainable Development” 2014-2020.

The contract’s scope includes the provision of services to support, advise and assist the Municipality of Markopoulo in: a. the implementation of the new wastewater management projects, namely the construction of the Porto Rafti settlement’s internal sewerage network (corresponding to the first and main section to be constructed with a budget of 21.710.000,00 € plus VAT), b. the construction of necessary infrastructure for transferring urban wastewater from Porto Rafti to the Central Sewerage Duct of Markopoulo (with a budget of 4.800.000,00 € plus VAT) and c. the necessary construction works for upgrading the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Markopoulo (with a budget of 1.800.000,00 € plus VAT).

We stress that our company has been successfully cooperating with the Municipality of Markopoulo since 2003 in the framework of previous contracts assigned, providing advice and consulting services for maturing and implementing the municipal wastewater management projects envisaged in the area. In doing so, we had promoted active and broad public participation procedures, and indeed had succeeded in getting important feedback and contribution during all stages of the process, which had resulted in high degree of social acceptance on the necessity for implementing the wastewater management projects envisaged in the Municipality of Markopoulo. A very significant outcome of the above process has been the correlation with the respective projects under construction in the neighbouring Municipalities of Koropi and Paiania (common projects for treated wastewater disposal). It is also worth noting that the Municipality of Markopoulo is the first municipality in eastern Attica region with operational integrated wastewater management plans in place, as well as existing and undergoing projects for the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater.
