New contract signing with the Municipality of Ioannina
Our company ROIKOS SA, in collaboration with the company EPTA SA, signed on 11.1.2018, the contract with the Municipality of Ioannina for the preparation of the «ACTION PLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY (APSE) IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF IOANNINA», following an open tender in accordance with law Ν. 4412/2016 provisions.
The preparation and implementation of the APSE is necessary and mandatory for the Municipality of Ioannina, as a result of the commitments the Municipality intends to undertake being a participant in the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy but also as a prerequisite for securing funds for projects that aim at the development of integrated energy planning and management for the Municipality.
The Municipality of Ioannina participates in the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, according to which, the signatories commit to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in their territories, enhancing their capacity to adapt to the inevitable effects of climate change and providing citizens with access to safe, sustainable and affordable energy by 2050.
The APSE of the Municipality of Ioannina will outline the objectives of the Municipality regarding the reduction of CO2 emissions by 2020 and 2030 and the commitments of the Municipality regarding the saving and rational management of energy, which can be summarised as follows:
- Reducing carbon dioxide / greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20% till 2020 (short-term target).
- Reducing carbon dioxide / greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% till 2030 (long-term target).
