Participation in the Stakeholder Conference on the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region
In the framework of expanding our activities abroad, as well as our involvement in the Revision of the Structural Plan of the Region of Epirus (that has its seafront on the Ionian Sea), we have participated in the “Stakeholder Conference on the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region” held in Athens on Thursday the 6-02-2014.
The Conference was organised in the context of the Greek EU Presidency of the Council and included key-note speeches and presentations by the Prime Minister and other government members, EC Commissioners and representatives. The Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region is currently drafted and has the following main pillars:
- Blue growth,
- Networking of Regions,
- Environment quality,
- Sustainable tourism.
The aim is that the strategy is adapted by the Council before the end of 2014. The competent body for the macro-region is the DG Regional and Urban Policy and the countries participating in the macro-region consist of: 4 EU members (Croatia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia) and 4 accession countries (Albania, Bosnia – Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia).
